Spring Cleaning Our Body, Mind & Home:

A Somatic Reset for the Season Ahead

Spring Prep: Body, Mind & Soul

Spring is an ideal time to support the body’s natural detoxification processes; something our physiology is already wired to do. As the season shifts and our metabolism gently reawakens from the slower pace of Winter and Autumn; we can harness this momentum to reduce inflammation, clear toxins and reset our internal systems.

The liver, lymphatic system, gut, skin and lungs are all key players in this natural detox cycle.

Likewise, the spaces we live in can hold stagnant energy, dust, mould and chemical residues that impact respiratory and immune health. A thoughtful spring clean of both body and home supports not only physical wellness, but also mental clarity, emotional regulation and a deeper connection to our environment. By aligning our inner and outer worlds, we create space for vitality, calm and focused energy to emerge as we move into the lighter months.

How to Care for Ourselves Approaching Spring

Supporting our body’s natural detox pathways doesn’t need to be extreme; it’s about working with our body, not against it. Simple, consistent practices can make a profound difference. Hydration is key: water supports kidney function and helps flush out metabolic waste. Daily movement – like walking, stretching, or Breathwork; stimulates lymphatic flow, enhances circulation and supports Somatic release of stress and tension.

Nutritionally, favouring fresh, whole foods rich in fibre, antioxidants and chlorophyll (like leafy greens, parsley, lemon and beetroot) supports liver and digestive health. And don’t underestimate the power of deep, quality sleep; it’s when our brain detoxifies and our Nervous System recalibrates. By integrating these foundational habits, you’ll feel more grounded, energised and aligned with the natural rhythm of Spring.

Spring Detox Essentials – Simple Tools for Body & Home

Here are some of my go-to, evidence-backed ways to support your system and create a lighter, more vibrant environment this Spring:

1. Lemon Water First Thing:

Warm lemon water in the morning stimulates digestion, supports liver function and helps flush out toxins after a night of cellular repair. Add a pinch of Celtic sea salt for extra minerals and hydration.

2. Dry Body Brushing:

Before your morning shower, use a natural bristle brush in gentle circular motions toward the heart. This stimulates the lymphatic system, exfoliates the skin and supports detox through the skin – our largest organ.

3. Green Smoothies & Bitter Greens:

Think kale, rocket, dandelion leaves, parsley, celery, cucumber, lemon and ginger. Bitter and chlorophyll-rich plants stimulate bile flow and support our liver; our main detox organ.

4. Declutter with Intention:

Our physical spaces mirror our internal world. Clearing out unused items, wiping down surfaces with non-toxic products chemical free products like my Enjo Cleaning system; opening the windows to let in fresh air can uplift our mood and lower our toxic load. Add a drop of eucalyptus, lemon, or rosemary oil to your cleaning for an extra immune-boosting hit.
