What is Autoimmune Disease?
After working with so many people with Autoimmune Disease and myself having had Fibromyalgia, our focus for this newsletter is Inflammation in the body and Autoimmune Diseases.
Autoimmune disease can feel deeply personal. Your body, the one designed to protect you, appears to turn against you and you experience:
Joint pain
Fatigue that doesn’t lift
Brain fog
Rashes
Thyroid dysfunction
Digestive chaos
Burning eyes and more…
On top of that, the explanation often sounds like this: “Your immune system is overactive.” “Your body is attacking itself.” “There’s no cure, we just manage it.”
But what if that framing is incomplete? What if the immune system isn’t confused…
What if it’s overwhelmed?
Autoimmunity is not random.
The immune system does not wake up one morning and decide to misfire. It responds to signals. Chronic signals. Autoimmune conditions, whether it’s Hashimoto’s, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, Psoriasis, Multiple Sclerosis or others, they all share patterns:
Persistent inflammation
Gut barrier dysfunction
Chronic infections
Environmental toxic exposure
Nutrient deficiencies
Nervous system dysregulation
Long term stress Hormones of Cortisol & Adrenaline flooding the body.
Different diagnoses but similar terrain. When the immune system is constantly exposed to inflammatory triggers, it adapts. Sometimes aggressively.

Why this matters:

But immune systems are adaptive, not malicious. When we change the internal environment, immune signalling often shifts. The immune system may not need to fight as hard when it’s no longer overwhelmed.
A gentle reminder…
If you are living with an autoimmune disease, you are not fragile. And your body is not your enemy. It may be reacting to something it hasn’t been given the tools to resolve. Work with qualified professionals. Move carefully. Approach YOURSELF with gentle kindness. But never assume your only option is lifelong suppression without support. Balance is possible. And so is healing. I’m living proof of that!
